Monthly Meat Boxes
Choose from 4 Meat Box Options
Our meat boxes are based around CSA principles. Each box contains 4 regular meals and one larger “sharer”. Singles have the choice of 4 small meals plus a sharer or a couple of bigger ones.
As a subscriber, each month your meat box will contain a selection of different cuts, sausages and mince. Each box is a bit different from the last, so by the end of the year you will have had a bit of everything. We value all cuts equally as they’ve all come from the same animal raised with love and care.

From the beginning one of our core principles has been to have fair and affordable pricing that is consistent. We don’t think kiwis should suffer high prices just because NZ’s export price goes up. We also didn’t want to inflate our standard prices and then offer perceived ‘specials’ or ‘discounts’.
Our aim is to decouple our business from the global market to create a self-sustaining community, protected from price spikes, providing food at a consistent, fair price and receiving an income at an equally consistent and fair amount.
Our meat boxes are based around CSA principles.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is about having an ongoing, direct relationship between the farmer and the people who eat the food the farmer produces.
CSA farmers strive to provide fresh, high-quality food and typically use natural farming and regenerative methods. In return, CSA members commit to regularly purchasing food from their farmer. This is a shared commitment to building a more local, equitable and accountable agricultural system, one that allows farmers to focus on good farming practices and still maintain productive and profitable farms.
Because of our CSA relationship, we are able to shield you from the price fluctuations of the global market – giving you more food security and giving us more business security.
How it all works
Flexibility
While we strive to provide you with 5 meals a month sometimes this isn’t possible due to the nature of the cuts in your box. For example some roasts are large and if you receive one of these you may have your 3kgs in 3 meals instead of 5. We believe this adds to the enjoyment of the boxes and we love it when our subscribers have a relaxed approach to what they are receiving each month!
Likewise due to our small size it can be hard to get our animals in to be processed at exactly the same time each month. So we ask that our subscribers understand this when the boxes may not come exactly the same time each month.
In return for your support we give you a high end product as near to supermarket prices that we can manage!
Feedback
We love your feedback! We are a developing business and as a subscriber you are key to can literally shape the way that we grow. Tell us what’s important to you, what you do and don’t like and what you’d like to see more of. This is your food we’re growing so get involved x
Seasonality
We are mindful of the seasons and try to shape your box accordingly. Winter boxes will suit more slow cooking and stews while over summer we’ll lean towards barbecuing.
Payment
Once we know when the next delivery date will be we send out an email to tell you. This email will also tell you about any add-ons we might have (soap, bone broth bones, dog bones etc) so it’s important to keep an eye out for it. A few days later we send out invoices which need to be paid before delivery. Nothing we do is automated!!
Open Farm
As a subscriber you are welcome on the farm for a visit and a cup of tea any time and many people love to pick their boxes up from here each month. Just let Claire know so she can make sure Justin cleans the toilet!!
Commitment
A key to CSAs working well is the commitment that you make to regularly buy from your farmer. At the same time we understand the stressors that people encounter. So while we appreciate an ongoing commitment from you, you are not locked in. If you need to pause for a month this is fine – just let us know. If you need to drop out this is also fine. Just be aware that we only have a certain amount of spaces available and you may have to go on a waiting list to get a spot again if you wanted to jump back in.78
